CMAC held the 6th Annual Drug Awareness/Meth Summit. This year’s summit was held at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Carrollton, Georgia. As in the past we will be offering CEU’s for counselors and POST credit for law enforcement officers. This year we will focus on all of the “Other Stuff” that is being abused. We will discuss prescription abuse as well as synthetic drugs, gangs and violence. Please mark your calendars now to join us for this event. The Carroll County Juvenile Drug Court seeks to divert non-violent juvenile offenders exhibiting alcohol or substance abuse behavior from the traditional juvenile court process to an intensive individualized treatment process.
We co-sponsored a youth rally with the Carrollton housing authority. This event was called SWAT; Students Working Against Temptation. This title was created by a team of 15 local middle and high school students who were instrumental in finalizing plans for the event. The event was held on Saturday August 9, 2008 from 10:00-3:00 at the Carroll County Recreation Complex.
Other News: The speakers bureau continues to be very busy with presentations at local events and schools. We have addressed groups at Bay Springs M.S., Bowdon H.S., Carroll EMC, Sertoma anti-drug rally for all area 4th graders to name a few!
